About

I’m Paola Semprini, welcome to my website.

I was born in Verona, Italy, and grew up in the shadow of the famous opera house Arena di Verona. I’ve lived in a number of locations over the years, but call Ohio home at this time. I’m near my son in the Columbus area.

My interest in opera was encouraged by my mother, a concert pianist.

I am blessed with a voice that can handle a variety of musical styles, including Broadway, Las Vegas show tunes, Country and Blues. Although opera is my favorite style, I became fascinated by Country music a few years ago, seeing similarities between human elements of the the two.

In the United States, I’ve performed at the Herbert Theater and the San Francisco Opera, the Amphitheater Art Center in New Jersey, City Opera in New York, the Garden Live FM Classic99 radio show, the Casa Conservatory in St. Louis, Missouri, the Ohio Theater in Columbus, and with the Cleveland Symphony.

For a PBS telecast of Caffe Fantastico, I appeared as Desdemona in Otello. I’ve also performed the role of Cho-Cho-San in Madama Butterfly and Violetta in La Traviata.

My tone, sound-quality and emotional fervor have enabled me to perform as: ‘Mimi’ in La Boheme, Tosca, Norma, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmen, Leonora in Il Trovatore and Aida at the Arena di Verona in 1999.

I consider myself a versatile entertainer. I can produce an Italian Show, a Nightclub Revue and an innovative Country and Classical Music combination called the ‘Cowboy and the Diva.’ Recently, I completed a tour of Hilton Hotels as part of an Italian Night-theme.

Family illness restricted my traveling from mid-2007 thru 2010, but that situation is improving, so I’m interested in performing whenever possible in 2011, and beyond.

My goal is to present classical music in a contemporary format that appeals to an audience of all ages. Be it a supper club, a night club or a clubhouse, I enjoy performing and drawing my audience into my imaginary world for 45 to 60 minutes.

I was a favorite on the ‘condo circuit’ in Florida during the winter months prior to 2007 and look forward to returning soon. Past engagements in the South Florida area include the Dade County Auditorium, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Sunrise Theater, Hollywood Philharmonic, the North Miami Beach Pop Orchestra, and the Kravis Center in Palm Beach, as well as condominiums such as Kings Point, Century Village and Harbor Edge in Del Ray Beach.
